About Us

The Wounded Veterans Polo Benefit is organized by a non-profit, The Commandery of St. Francis, OSJ, and hosted by the Wine Country Polo Club.  The event is run entirely by volunteers.  We have no paid staff or board members.  Net proceeds go entirely to the selected programs for helping injured veterans in the Bay Area.

Among the planned beneficiaries of the polo event are the following organizations:

Project Healing Waters

Project Healing Waters

offers fly fishing for disabled veterans.  SF Bay Area chapter volunteers (including the new Martinez chapter), provide casting lessons and outings to local rivers.

Wooden Boats For Veterans (WBFV)

Wooden Boats For Veterans (WBFV) provides sail training and wooden boat restoration opportunities for veterans in the Bay Area, providing participants with outdoor adventure, teamwork, and goal-oriented skills.

Homeward Bound of Marin

Homeward Bound of Marin has been partnering with the Veterans’Administration for many years and hosts a VA representative onsite at the Novato shelter to help connect veterans with their benefits and housing options. Last year, they served 54 veterans in their program. Currently, they are seeking funding to build a new community of 24 small apartments for unhoused veterans and plan to break ground at the end of the year.
